The African American Women Trucking Association Driven Together Education Program is designed to provide students with career-focused training, certifications, and workforce development opportunities in trucking, logistics, supply chain, dispatching, entrepreneurship, and professional development. Through live, virtual, and hybrid learning formats, students gain hands-on knowledge, mentorship, and industry exposure for both Behind the Wheel and Behind the Desk career pathways. The program includes onboarding, LMS course access, certified trainer support, mentorship sessions, and certification completion pathways that help students move from education to employment and long-term career success.

Student expectations, milestones, and participation guidelines All students in the African American Women Trucking Association Driven Together Education Program begin with Driven to Begin | The Starting Line, a required virtual orientation covering onboarding, LMS access, course navigation, SMART goals, and accountability planning to ensure student success, confidence, and certification completion readiness.

What’s Included


The Freight Dispatcher Advantage Certification is a Virtual/Hybrid 2-Part Training Program designed to teach students the operational and business side of freight dispatching. Session 101, The Art of Dispatching, focuses on dispatch fundamentals including load boards, carrier setup, route planning, broker communication, compliance, and daily dispatch operations. Session 102, The Business of Dispatching, takes place two weeks later and covers business setup, contracts, invoicing, branding, client management, and entrepreneurship. Between sessions, students complete LMS-based coursework, guided modules, and assignments through AAWTA’s learning platform with support from certified trainers. Students also receive 2 bonus mentorship sessions before completing their final practical exam. Upon successful completion, students earn their Freight Dispatcher Advantage Certification through the African American Women Trucking Association Driven Together Education Program.

Virtual/Hybrid 4-Part Training Program designed to give students a complete understanding of the full trucking, logistics, and supply chain ecosystem. This certification is delivered on a biweekly schedule and is typically completed within 8–12 weeks, allowing students time between sessions to complete coursework, apply concepts, and stay engaged in the learning process. Students will learn how products move from raw materials to final delivery while understanding both operational and business-side opportunities. Topics include sourcing and procurement, manufacturing and production, warehousing and inventory management, transportation and logistics, distribution and fulfillment, and information and financial flows across the supply chain. Students also receive 4 bonus mentorship sessions with certified trainers for additional guidance and support. Upon successful completion, students earn their Supply Chain & Logistics Certification through the African American Women Trucking Association Driven Together Education Program.
